Lectio Divina
Sacred Readings
Lectio Divina has roots in the early centuries of the Christian Church. It is a prayer practice involving slow, reflective reading and listening to scripture, aiming to deepen and strengthen one's relationship with God.
We are invited to ABIDE with Jesus.
Jesus’ Words in John 15: 1-11 invite us to abide in Him. He shared these words with his disciples soon before his death and resurrection. In these verses, he is explaining that after He is no longer with them, they will have a choice to abide in him. Jesus is the True Vine. He provides strength, nourishment and everything we need when we stay connected with Him.
Typically, Lectio Divina readings are only 2-3 verses. This time, I will be reading all eleven verses.
During the first reading simply listen to John’s words. Consider picturing Jesus talking with his disciples in the Upper Room. He wants his followers to better understand his heart and his ministry to the world.
